Theology involves a metaphorics of God, which is not just about metaphors of God but metaphors of God.

It is both a subjective and objective genitive.

In other words, it is not a matter of the divine dissolving into metaphor but of metaphor carrying us over to something else, something other, something beyond our present consciousness.
