In the ultimate sense there is nothing to be done except to learn how to enjoy life. That may sound really simple. It’s also totally ordinary too, because there is nothing spiritual about it. It’s not about lofty spiritual attainments but to enjoy life does not mean becoming decadent either. Enjoying life is accompanied by having a spirit of celebration and joy in all of the myriad manifestations of life. With that attitude our life becomes graceful and the radiance of that inner peace flows freely. That gnawing thought, “It’s hard to be human,” finally leaves us alone. When we really know how to enjoy our life then all of our searching comes to an end. Until then we search for happiness, enlightenment, the end of suffering. We search for this and that and the list keeps growing. This endless searching is the cause of pain and agony in each of us, but it is very subtle to the extent that we may not even be conscious of it. As long as this search continues in our mind, there is this subtle sense of pain, conceptual pain, and we don’t know how to really enjoy life completely in each and every moment.
