"That is born of the flesh is flesh
And that which is born of the spirit is spirit" (mttw)
Unless I go beyond desires, taste of the manna from heaven, I will want but fleshpots, as what was wanted from the unworthy in the time of moses, hence they were not taken into the promise land....(Psalms)

Merton. St. John of the cross
Merton or st john of the cross
St john of the cross-
Our aim is union with god in the memory through hope; the object of hope is something unpossessed; the less other objects are possessed, the more capacity and ability there is to hope for this one object, and consequently the more hope;the greater the possessions, the less the capacity and ability for hoping, and consequently so much less hope; accordingly, in the measure that individuals dispossess their memory of forms and objects, which are not god, they will fix it on god, and preserve it empty, so as to hope for the fullness of their memory from him.
Merton-
The one great danger that confronts every man who takes spiritual
experience seriously is the danger of illuminism or, in Mgr. Knox's
term, "enthusiasm." Here the problem is that of taking one's
subjective experience so seriously that it becomes more important than
truth, more important than God. Once spiritual experience becomes
objectified, it turns into an idol. It becomes a "thing," a "reality"
which we serve. We were not created for the service of any "thing,"
but for the service of God alone, Who is not and cannot be a "thing."
To serve Him Who is no "object" is freedom. To live for spiritual
experience is slavery, and such slavery makes the contemplative life
just as secular (though in a more subtle way) as the service of any
other "thing," no matter how base: money, pleasure, success. Indeed,
the ruin of many potential contemplatives has been this avidity for
spiritual success. This is why at the very beginning of this essay I
stressed the danger of looking for "happiness" as a goal in the life
of contemplation. It is all the more dangerous because the
satisfaction we derive from spiritual things is pure and perfect. And
all the harder to bring under objective criticism.

Prayer
I stayed behind yesterday in the temple hall, reading gospel of luke, it has such a pull, the emotional stir of jesus' voice, over and over again, he teaches and you can feel in ur whole body the overtones...
When he is speaking to his diciples, to nichodeamus and
Then when he is saying, u wicked
And perverse generation, a sign will not be given to you, for the greatest sign is here and u do not see .
I can see the beauty of my fresh showered body and sparkeling face kissed with the mountain sun of yesterday and the beauty of the stars, waiting for us to sing in the sunrise, isn't this the sign that every day this earth offers us a baptism of its new day into the words greater than ourselves....
Business, buildings, rushing here and there for what, what will be said on judgement day ? Did I love ur trees, ur streams, ur creatures, did I share love in the most possible way, and shine this gathered light to my neighbor ?
Awaken, spirit, come to me, for I seek to receive u so I may be called into christ...so I may be like him in you, so that love, is my only language, not pushing aside another, not knowing anything but love !

Poem. Prayer
The river flows, and breaks the silence of the sunrise, its constant as is the light as it raises over the mountains
Between me and the light is the sound of the river and will always be here, whether I can see it, feel it, be one with it,
I am one with it as I am one with lov of all creation.
What can I make of my creation, this time, my moments that I pass thru life, but to shed the robes of desire and deceit to hear more clearly, see more profoundly and receive more fully.
I open my hands and prayer, ask and it will be given to you, knock and the door will be opened to you, for anyone who asks, receives and he who the door knocks opens,
I knock at the door and I ask, as I open my hands to be a healer, to touch the poor and the dying and raise them to you, in thy will, let me be blessed to do your work and glorify this moment, forever more.....

Prayer
Its beautiful, this cross with a prism within its center, how I stick it into the wax candle and it refracs light, is the light always there refracting, and I just don't see it ? To I need the prism !? And why does the flame dance, trying to reach upward?
Today the window was slanted ever so slightly in the prayer temple and the sounds of the winds sang for the entire hour in silence, I'm not sure when I actually cleared my mind from the bible verse it kept repeating, so fresh from gospel of luke I read yesterday, the wind blows where it may, and we know not where it is coming or where it will go, like the spirit, where goes it want to go ? Where it is trapped, or flowing freely, where there is light and love or darkness and tightness. ?
And then there was peace...

Prayer 2013
Can u catch the star and hold it within u and gift it to another with every breathe
Can the smile warm u so, that it radiates compassion so filling in your empty heart
Look listen, in the silence of the morning, the glistening of the dew, like stars beneath ur feet shining on the blades of starched grass ...They sparkle everywhere, in the sky they sing praise ....will I bring that praise out from within me and be heaven on earth..
Love is a field all around us I fill my lungs with a smile grateful for this new day, in the mystery of faith
"Girt up ur loins, and listen, for I will ask you and you will answer me ' Do you know the ordinances of heaven "
What can I know, but the emotion of christ within me,
It is now 46 years that I have taken to build my temple of being, and you shall distroy it and in three days it will be raised up,
I, Honor the 46 years of the temple of me I have built, and I release it for a greater than solomon has come and raised up his temple within all of us through the holy spirit, baptismed within every morning when I sing to christ and eat his fresh and drink his blood and humble to thy will.....
Enter by the narrow gate......
And receive the angels all around u as blessin, life is more than you can know, listen for the calling it belongs to us all.....

Prayer 2013
Be careful for what you ask.. Thought on these words a bit and heard them again as if unfolding answers 'for' me to questions we all wonder, or portions we label as strive for, upward and onward.... And yet, isn't there a knowing beyond ourselfs , did michaelangelo actually create david, or was david already created in him, in the stone which he just revealed..... I wash away any wishes for anything, therefore pull myself out of the pool of desires, and walk down the road, basking in the sun, dripping, evaporating, steaming with the prayer, Show me the way, bless me and fill my heart with all of u, let my humble words and all the love u are with me, be all of me, thy will be done.... Amen ! -k
