And the man said "Speak to us of self-knowledge" And he answered; Your hearts know in silence The secrets of the days and the nights, but your ears thirst for the Sound of your hearts knowledge You would know in words that which you have always known in thought You would touch with your fingers the naked body of your dreams and it is well that you should ! The hidden well spring of your soul Must needs rise and run murmuring to the sea and the treasure of your infinate depths would be revealed to your eyes but let there be no scales to weigh your unknown treasure and seek not the depths of your knowledge with staff or sounding line for self is a seed boundless and measureless. Say not I have found the truth but rather I have found a truth Say not I have found the path of the soul say rather, I have met the soul walking upon my path For the soul walks upon all paths, the soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed, The soul unfolds itself like a lotus of countless petals... ....The prophet Kahill Gibran

Sweet Darkness
When your eyes are tired
the world is tired also.
the world is tired also.
When your vision has gone
no part of the world can find you.
no part of the world can find you.
Time to go into the dark
where the night has eyes
to recognize its own.
where the night has eyes
to recognize its own.
There you can be sure
you are not beyond love.
you are not beyond love.
The dark will be your womb
tonight.
tonight.
The night will give you a horizon
further than you can see.
further than you can see.
You must learn one thing:
the world was made to be free in.
the world was made to be free in.
Give up all the other worlds
except the one to which you belong.
except the one to which you belong.
Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn
confinement of your aloneness
to learn
anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you.

Prayer is not purely an act
All things pray
And all things pour forth their souls,
The heaven prays
The earth prays
Every creature and every living thing,
In all life here is longing
Creation is itself, but a longing
A kind of prayer to the Almighty
What are the clouds, the rising and setting of the sun,
The soft radiance of the moon
And the gentleness of the night
What are the flashes of the human mind, and
The storms of the human heart?
They are all just prayers
The wordless outpouring of boundless longing for god......
All things pray
And all things pour forth their souls,
The heaven prays
The earth prays
Every creature and every living thing,
In all life here is longing
Creation is itself, but a longing
A kind of prayer to the Almighty
What are the clouds, the rising and setting of the sun,
The soft radiance of the moon
And the gentleness of the night
What are the flashes of the human mind, and
The storms of the human heart?
They are all just prayers
The wordless outpouring of boundless longing for god......

Hazrat Inayat Khan
Riding on the Horse of hope
Holding in my hand the rein of courage
Clad in the armor of patience
and the helmut of endurance on my head
I started on my journey to the land of love
A lance of stern faith in my hand
and the sword of firm conviction buckled on
with the knapsack of sincerity
and the shield of earnestness
I advanced on the path of love
My ears closed to the disturbing noise of the world
My eyes turned from all that was calling me on the way
my heart beating the rhythm of my ever-rising aspiration
And my blazing soul guiding me on the path
I made my way through the space
I went through the thick forest of perpetual desire
I crossed the running rivers of longing
I passed through the desert of silent suffering
I climbed the sheep hills of continual strife
Feeling ever some presence in the airm I asked "are you there my love?"
and a voice came to my ears, saying;" No, still further I am"

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Dinner Prayer
Lord
Behold our family here assembled
We thank three for this place in which we dwell
For the lov that united us
For the peace accorded us this day
For the hope for tommorow
For the health
The work
The food
And the bright skiesThat make our life delightful
For our friends in all parts of the earth
And our friendly helpers in this foreign land
Let peace about in our small community
Purge out of every heart the lurking grudge
Give us grace and strength to forbear and to persevere
Give us courage, gaiety and the quiet mind
